These shoes feature a design with ‘Faraydun Strikes Zahhak with the Ox-headed Mace’.

The design uses elements borrowed from a folio of the Shahnameh attributed to Sultan Muhammad and dated ca. 1525. It is currently held in the Freer Gallery of Art at The Smithsonian. © F1996.2

In this episode, the Fararydun defeats the tyrant Zahhak by striking him with an ox-headed mace. While Faraydun is about to deliver a final, fatal blow, the angel Surush intervenes, ordering him to bind the defeated Zahhak instead and imprison him in a cave on Mount Damavand, where he will eventually perish.
