About Shahnameh Forever

Shahnameh Forever is a living, publicly accessible archive documenting how modern and contemporary art reinterprets the Shahnameh and Persian classical literature.

The project began as a documentary and grew into an interactive archive spanning every medium, painting, film, puppet theatre, animation, photography, food, and fashion. It is a cultural reference where artists, curators, academics, and the public meet around the work.

Access & Mission

Reading is always free and open to everyone. Registered users can engage with works and submit content for editorial review. Invited contributors, each carrying a unique, traceable identifier, produce the core of the archive. All approved content remains publicly available, whoever submitted it.

Our aim is to keep The Book of Kings alive for new audiences and new eras, and to make its modern afterlives discoverable in one place.
