Shahnameh earrings — Rostam & Tahmineh

These handmade earrings by Mitra Amini, an artist based in Virginia US, feature images from the Shahnameh on wooden tiles coated in resin. One earring depicts the protagonists of the story about the Iranian knight Rostam and Tahmineh, the Princess of Samangan, now in Afghanistan. The other one shows the reason why the two lovers meet - Rostam’s horse Rakhsh. Rostam and Tahmineh met only once to conceive their son Sohrab whom Rostam unknowingly killed in the battle field.
