This watch features a reversible face with the image ‘Rostam Pursues Akvan Div’ from the Shahnameh.

This image is borrowed from the manuscript of the Shahnameh, originally produced for Shah Tahmasp (Tabriz, ca. 1530–1535) and attributed to Muzaffar ‘Ali. It is currently held in the Aga Khan Musuem.© AKM162

In this image, Rostam, sent by King Kay Khosrow, pursues a giant onager (wild donkey). Rostam attempts to lasso the onager but it suddenly disappears. Rostam realises he is dealing with not an animal but a div (demon).
