The legend of Zal in the Shahnameh is similar to the Biblical story about Moses. However, Zal was rejected by his own father Sam who decided that it was a bad omen that his son was born with grey hair (albino) and ordered him to be taken to the woods to be eaten by the wild beasts. Mythical bird Simurgh discovered baby Zal and brought him to feed her chics. It was the happy chics who refused to eat him and accepted a human baby as one of them saved him from death. VIK depicts the scene as if this happened in St Petersburg by the Neva river with the famous architectural monuments in the background
