These shoes feature a design showing ‘Kay Khusraw Welcomed by his Grandfather, Kay Kaus, King of Iran’.

This image is borrowed from an illustration of the Shahnameh manuscript commissioned by Shah Tahmasp, the original is currently held in The David Collection. Inv. no. 30/1988The image is used in mirror reflection.

This scene depicts the court of Kay Kavus. He is seated on his throne with his grandson, Kay Khosrow who has just returned from Turan, where he grew up in secrecy.
